Bailey left his start Sunday after 2 1/3 innings with shoulder tightness, charged with three runs on four hits and a walk.
In nine starts this season, Bailey has posted a 1-2 record and 5.51 earned run average, with 41 strikeouts and 21 walks in 50 2/3 innings.
To take Bailey's roster spot, the Reds recalled reliever Enerio Del Rosario from Triple-A Louisville. Del Rosario has never appeared in a major league game.
In 20 appearances at Louisville this year, he posted a 1.46 ERA, and had 17 strikeouts and four walks in 24 2/3 innings.
